Plan survey effort from a budget and flying assumptions
sight_plan_effort.RdTurns a budget and a few flying assumptions into how many transects can be afforded, how many a wave of flying days covers, and what each wave costs – the arithmetic for sizing the pilot and the waves after it. No survey history is needed.
Usage
sight_plan_effort(
budget = 5e+05,
hourly_rate = 3587,
minutes_per_transect = 8,
aircraft = 2,
hours_per_day = 6,
days_per_wave = 3,
pilot_share = 0.15
)Arguments
- budget
Dollars available for flying.
- hourly_rate
All-in dollars per flying hour.
- minutes_per_transect
Flying minutes per transect, turns included.
- aircraft
Aircraft flying at once.
- hours_per_day
Flying hours per aircraft per day.
- days_per_wave
Flying days in a wave.
Share of the affordable transects to fly as the pilot.
Value
A list: summary, a one-row tibble of cost_per_transect,
affordable, per_day, per_wave and pilot; and waves, a tibble
with one row per wave (pilot first) of wave, transects, cumulative,
cost and cumulative_cost, up to the budget.
Details
The defaults are the planning figures for an EC120 with a gimbal from
AHFB's prairie surveys: 75 km/h overall, turns included, over 10 km
transects is 8 minutes a transect, at $3,587 an hour all-in. Ferry and
weather days are not modelled; allow for them in days_per_wave or the
budget.
