Arguments

data

A tibble with column name. Optional columns: is_virtual, keywords, metadata, project_id.

dry_run

Logical. If TRUE, prints the request without sending it.

verbosity

Integer. How much information to print (0 = silent, 1 = headers, 2 = headers + body, 3 = full).

Value

A tibble of created groups with their assigned IDs.

Details

A group is any set of animals that belong together. It was built for wolf packs and fits anything of that shape — a herd of sheep, a family group, a band.

is_virtual separates a real social unit from an analytical one. A herd is not virtual: the animals genuinely are together. "Every ram caught on the fourteenth" is virtual — a set someone drew, not one the animals formed. Getting this wrong makes a convenience grouping look like biology.

Membership is separate, so an animal can join and leave — see telem_create_group_individuals().
