Takes the next n reserve units per stratum, in rank order, and marks them as the next wave. Nothing is redrawn: the units were fixed when the season was drawn, so base plus any number of waves stays a valid sample.

Usage

sight_add_wave(season, n = NULL, total = NULL, weights = NULL)

Arguments

season

A sight_season from sight_sample_season_id().

n

Units to add per stratum: one number for every stratum, a vector named by stratum_id, or a data frame of stratum_id and n. A stratum not named gets none.

total

Instead of n, a total for the wave, split across strata by sight_split_wave() in proportion to each stratum's size times its weight. Typically the transects a wave's days of flying cover.

weights

With total, weights by stratum (a vector named by stratum_id; unnamed strata weigh 1). A weight above 1 puts more of every wave in that stratum – the pronghorn range, say.

Value

The season, with the new wave's units given its wave number.

Details

Replace a unit that could not be surveyed only this way – with the next ranked unit – and record why it was not flown. Choosing a convenient substitute by hand is what breaks a design.

Examples

if (FALSE) { # \dontrun{
season <- sight_add_wave(season, n = c("12" = 3, "15" = 5))
subset(season$units, wave == 2)
} # }
